I just want to start by saying that this is a post about my current order problem with T-Mobile, mainly just to see if anyone has had the same problem or if it is just me. I would like to stress that so far the customer service peeps at T-Mobile have been excellent, so it is not a rant as such.
Last Monday (13th), I ordered an MDA Vario with CoPilot from the T-Mobile website as it seemed to be an amazing offer - £80 on the Flext35 plan. I received an email later that day to say that there would be a delay in shipping due to high demand (which is fair enough - I can understand why).
On Wednesday, they left a message on my home phone to say that the problem was with a lack of stock of the CoPilot, but that they expected more in by the end of the week. This message was relayed to me second hand and a bit garbled, so I phoned up to confirm this. Fine so far.
On Saturday, the phone and CoPilot turned up. All seemed well (the phone is awesome by the way). However, when I went to setup the CoPilot, I had been sent a copy on a full size SD card when the phone takes MiniSD cards. I checked the CoPilot box and it was even labelled as containing the MiniSD version. Whoops. I phoned customer service and the guy explained that they were out of stock again, but will have some in again at the begining of the week. Again, fair enough, mistakes happen and it is not clear whether the labelling error was done by T-Mobile or their supplier.
True to his word, another copy of CoPilot turned up on Tuesday morning. Again, this copy was labelled correctly as MiniSD for the MDA Vario, but agin it contained the full size SD card version. D'Oh!
Back on the phone again, and the lady at the other end said that rather than send out another copy, which may again be the wrong one, they have a new product arriving at the end of the week which is the MDA Vario and CoPilot in one box set. She will send me one of these, and I should send everything else (phone and all) back. A little bit annoying as I have just got the phone setup the way I like, but not the end of the world.
Then today I get another message on the phone from T-Mobile, just to confuse matters, saying that they will send the correct MiniSD card, and that I could keep the old one. (I assume that this means they will send just the card, not the entire boxed version).
Is anyone else in this situation or is it just me? (I can't have got the only two mis-labelled copies out there could I?)
Also, I added the 6MB data option to my order (mainly for the live traffic updates, but also partly for email), but am not able to use this even though I am paying for it - slightly annoying. I am also going to have to muck around sending back at least 1 boxed copy of CoPilot, possibly 2 and a phone depending on what they send me next as this is no longer very clear. (Hopefully if I ask nicely they will let me keep the extra copy of CoPilot as a spare GPS receiver would be very handy - I doubt it somehow
).
If anyone on here works for T-Mobile, is this a more widespread problem than just me? If it is (I'm hoping that it is as you may be able to answer the next question for me), I presume that now recognised there is a correction plan in place - is this the sending out of just the correct memory card (the MiniSD one)? I hope it is as it will save me a lot of hassle swapping phones over again etc. Also, any idea of when these will be sent? (I am hoping that as I got the message about it today, they are being sent today).
