have a t-mobile Huawei usb moden with my phone sim placed in it. Wondering if it will be straightforward suing this in spain. If it use it via the phone then i know in spain it simply swtiches to another operator no problem. Will the usb modem work the same way as its set to use t-mobile service?

Probably, yeah.

I am with T Mobile and when I was in Tenerife last August I used my Vario II handset to connect to the internet and check email etc. As far as I can recall it just hooked into Telefonica and I was online and able to call, send and receive texts etc via them.

Additional roaming / browsing charges may be involved though, my first bill after I got back had about an additional £15 on it.

Usually the mobile USB adaptors are for UK use only but may work abroad, please be aware of complete rip off charges if it does work. Just use internet cafes or local wifi access points, alternatively you could see if they do PAYG data sims over there if your staying for a while.

I also use T-Mobile and have noticed they can set you up to use it abroad for £2.50 a month extra. You can do it on their website if you've registered.

Found this on the T-Mobile website:

Mobile Broadband - RoamingIf you use mobile broadband or web'n'walk in any of the following EU countries it will cost £1.50 per MB you use, and you'll be charged via your T-Mobile bill. The EU countries included are: Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, , Poland, Portugal, Romania, , Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain andSweden. If you use it in any other country, it'll cost £7.50 per MB. We're afraid that roaming isn't available for Mobile Broadband Plus Daily customers. When you start roaming you may be asked to pay a deposit.

Just a thought, contact T-Mobile themselves directly for clarification - could save yourself a nasty bill.
