Hi,

I just spent the last couple of days trying to upgrade my T-Mobile phone/tariff but I can't seem to get a good deal like some of my friends and some of you guys.

I was hoping to sign up to this Flext 35 tariff and get the -25% discount + a Nokia N70 but T-Mobile are playing hardball.

While keeping my old number the best deal they have offered me is £120 for the N70 and the 25% discount on the tariff.

Seems silly as if I was too cancel my contract and sign up a fresh one with them I would get a free N70 and the discounted rates. . ..duh!

Why is it that a new customer gets offered these deals and then people like me who have been loyal T-Mobile users for 6 years get shafted?

Hi,

thanks for replies. It turns out I am a skinflint, my average monthly bill is £20.00 :p

Made a few more phone calls, squeezed a little better deal from them

£90.00 Nokia N70

£26.25/Month Flext 35

Just got the address of my local T-Mobile shop, gonna talk a walk down there now and see whats up!

Option #1: Cough up the £90 for the handset, take the -25% reduced flex35 tariff @ £26.25/Month, then sell my old handset on auction (Nokia 6230) to maybe recoup £50-£60 (towards the N70 costs).

Option #2: Cancel my 6 year old contract, sign up as a new customer and get a free Nokia N70 + a reduced rate tariff on the Flext 35. Lose my old number and then sell my old handset on auction as well :D

Hmmm, I'm having a rethink. . .

Can't seem to squeeze a better deal from them than £90 for the Nokia N70 and then get the reduced rate of £26.25/Month (18month contract).

Looking at it from another point of view its not to shabby a deal as the N70 is retailing for approx £299.

I got £100 worth of phone upgrade for free so if I don't wanna cough up the extra £90 for the N70 I may just have a closer look at what I can get for free (Nokia 6230i etc).

The positive note is that the tariff is amazing, there even offered me the Flext 35 contract at the reduced rate of £20.25 if I opt out of a free handset upgrade. . .

Other points I wanted to mention was the very helpful and friendly service offered by the staff at the T-Mobile shop @ 410 King's Road London (thanks Nasim!). This guy really bent over backwards to get me the deal I wanted, so kudos to him, looks like carphone warehouse is out of a job!

I also got a tour of the full range of PDA/Windows Powered units (Vario, Sidekick II etc) looks very interesting. . .

T-Mobile are being helpful. . .

Hi, just a quick update!

Went back to the T-Mobile shop @ 410 King's Road SW10 this morning on a mission to get some Nokia N70 action and a Flext 35 discounted tariff.

As mentioned before the best offer I had recieved was £90.00, but today the guy checked his system and it said I could get the upgrade for £40.00?

He called up the T-Mobile office to get some codes and they informed him it was actually £90.00, even though the system said £40.00. When he came off the phone he said "Don't worry, I will do it for £40.00"

So there you go, two days ago I was asked for £120.00, and today I paid £40.00, now got my Nokia N70 + a Flext 35 contract @ £26.25/Month, job done! :)
