Just a general question as to the quality/reliability of T-Mobile's service- it's always seemed like one of the lesser known/underdog providers to me, but it seems I can get the best deal on a HTC Touch Diamond 2 from them (via mobilephonesdirect.com).

How would you rate them?

9/10 from me. I've been with t-mobile for the last 4 years, did have some problems with billing etc but their customer service is excellent :) very good coverage too !!!

I agree. I've been with T-mobile since they were one2one. As I have two phones I've also dealt with O2 and Vodafone and yes, they all have issues one way or another but T-Mobile seem to have less and easier to deal with.

I don't think any network deserves 10/10 so IMO the highest mark would be an 8/10 and I'd give that to T-Mobile.

O2 has the best signal by far (as a generalisation) and messes with the phones the least - not at all with the HTC's.

I'm tempted to also buy from there, thing is i'm with orange at the moment so it's going to be a pain to swap over!

The one area of network service where T-mobile really suck is if you are on a train or in a car on the motoroway. Service is really patchy (and no, not just when going through tunnels :p). It's as if it has trouble switching between masts, myself and both my parents are with T-mobile and all have this problem when on the train/in the car.

Aside form that service is decent and coverage seems equal to most others. Good value for money I'd say.

T-Mobile's web n walk:

You'll need a compatible phone and internet coverage. Remember that you can only use web'n'walk in the UK and you can't use your phone as a modem or use web'n'walk for peer to peer file sharing, instant messaging (except if you have a Sidekick) or making internet phone calls.

Not happy with it, no IM??!

You can use IM with webnwalk but you have to pay extra for it...i use msn messenger all the time with my tmobile account.

Been with tmobile for almost 5 yrs now and have absolutely no complaints from them...they have been great for me.

This drives me utterly insane. Unusable network if you drive.

Deutsche Telekom is under pressure from key shareholders to either sell or merge its UK business, T-Mobile, with a rival company.

3 is the most likely but I hope they merge with O2.

I went onto T-Mobile temporarily last year but struggled for a signal at home and at work which rendered the whole thing pointless so returned it and went back to o2. Ive had similar reports from friends locally, but Im sure that other people have signal problems in certain areas on other networks.

all the networks still have small blackspots. generally most as as good as each other though in terms of %age of populated areas.

Not sure if it is still the case, but up to when i left t-mob, UK was one of the more profitable arms of the company. cant see them being sold unless its to a very small company taking over, would think that competition rules would stop one of the other 2 big ones buying it out.

BT could be one buyer i guess.

I've been with them since they were one2one, must be 10+ years. Never had a problem, I'm quite happy to recommend them. Certainly provide better coverage than I've had through o2 and now Orange with work.

I been with T-mobile for 10 yrs, not had any major issues, till now, Moved sites at work, the current site im at no signal at all, sometimes 1 bar, but i think it depends where your located. But if the signal is good at work/home there great!

I've been with T-Mobile for three years, having just finished my second 18 month contract a few weeks ago.

Web and Walk is amazing, and was truly groundbreaking at the time it first came out, but unfortunately issues with reception still remain. Vodafone and O2 are still the best in Scotland when you're out in the wilds, I lose 3G coverage North of about Stirling and then 2G coverage is patchy at best elsewhere. In fact, I can't even get 3G in my house most of the time, and I live within 100 yards of a transmitter on the outskirts of Edinburgh!!

Of all the networks, I've found T-Mobile's customer service to be the best. I've worked for mobile manufacturers so I know my stuff, and they are the only network to have a dedicated technical support team who can answer any query I've given and don't resort to lying to get you off the phone (as I've had with Orange on many occasions).
