So it look like T-Mobile have finally caved to the pressure of Orange and reduced their fair usage data caps to match other wireless providers, right down from 3GB to 500MB.

No sure if this will give you an escape clause from any contract you maybe tied into or not but I for one am a bit mad, I use around 2.2GB per month so I will be 4x over the new limit yet I was never over the old one. :(

Here is the link to the T-Mobile announcement http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=DATA_CHANGES starting Feb 1st 2011.

utter utter rubbish! Surely whole idea of smartphones was to able to watch and listen to media.

I purposely went with T mobile because of there 3 GBlimit!

Anyway of complaining ?

There will absolutely be a get out clause - you signed the contract, they are varying its terms.

I cancelled a 4 month old Vodafone contract with no penalty for this very reason.

People on T mobile website are saying there Customer service is saying no!

I've just been on the phone to t-mobile c/s and eventually got through to a manager.
they are trying to use clause 7.1.2 of our contracts to evade customers requests to cancel contracts.

the clause basically states that they can change or withdraw additional services with 30 days notice.
i pointed out that the 3gb internet allowance is part of my plan and not an additional service, to no avail - even the manager seemed to be reading off a script! she even started to tell me that i would now be better off.

anyway the conversation was going nowhere so i was sms'd the postal and email address of t-mobile admin UK and thankyou and good bye, by which time the manager had already hung up.

I'm really angry about this as i chose t-mobile for its 3gb fair use policy. i now think the best way to pursue this is to write/email t-mobile in the UK. it seems the call centre has been given its orders!

Not good like you I also signed up for the 3gb side, maybe I will call and say well if you can change the terms of my contract so can I and stop payment to them.

I can't get how she said you will be better off how can you be if they are cutting the amount of data you can send receive, load of rubbish.

lol , well if anyone wants a Giffgaff sim, drop me a msg :)

It seems odd though, 3 up there data and then tmobile cave in to orange. They will probably all follow suit eventually anyway.

Well, if there is a mass exodus then they deserve it. I've been with them since the days of One2One. Back then, they would send out newsletters admitting where the problems in the company were, ie long waiting times for customer services etc but it gradually improved and became excellent.

They then introduced off shore call centres not so long back and the service level started decreasing. I can't help but feel this is a further step in the wrong direction.

Well I am on a business contract with the Android data plan included in my tariff so I shall be calling up tomorrow and getting the low down from the business team, if it affects me then I'll write to them requesting a cancellation.

I really hope that it doesn't affect me though since I like the coverage, and they customer service has always been good and I only pay £20pm for everything.

3gb Android, 3gb web and walk + and 1gb Web and Walk are all effected.

They all decrease to 500mb - Browsing, emails, video, music etc all take data off of this limit.

Once you reach 500mb, video, music etc are disabled, but you can still browse and check emails.

So its not -quite- as bad as it sounds at first, but still pretty poor! :(

Hmm. Will be following this closely.

Will definitely be contacting T-Mobile as like others the 3GB limit was one of the only reasons I joined T-Mobile for.

wow, this is going to cost them an arm & a leg !

So its going to be free for people to get out of their contracts now, hand for those that want a new phone.

The 3GB fair use limit is the single reason I am with T-Mobile! Whats 3 like as a network? My contract expires in a month, I was going to go onto a rolling contract for a few months until Honeycomb was out, but not anymore I won't!
