Hey,

I have a very old T-Mobile full size SIM, and would like to port my PAYG number over to an EE micro SIM (for LTE, among other things).

There are various support docs on the EE site which say that this is possible, but having spoken with two T-Mo CS people and one from EE, they all say that I can't do this. I've also tried using the online SIM activation site here, which gives me the following error message: "sorry we don't recognise that SIM serial number, please try again".

Can anyone tell me if what I want to do is actually possible? If so, how can I do this please?

Cheers,

Su

I was with T-Mobile & moved across to EE for the 4G with no problems BUT it was on a pay monthly contract.

You may have to go T-Mobile -> other carrier -> EE to keep your number

(& stop EE losing it....)

Call 150, this isn't tough. They deffo can do this as long as the SIM is active, as in - you can use it to make calls, have credit and it registers on the network. Phone networks each have a magic 3 digit number and changing between these requires a "PAC" process run. Typically this means switching between companies but EE are a special case as they have the magic 3 digit number for 2 networks, ex-orange and ex-t-mo. If they need to do a switch between them they can do an internal PAC. When I left a few years ago there was a process for this as part of the radio network merge happening at the time, wasn't difficult.

If they insist they can't do this (there is absolutely ZERO reason for this technically I assure you, it will have been a decision by EE to block this) you'll need to do a PAYG merry-go-round with a 3rd party as Mr Grubby says. It will cost you a fiver and about 5 days of time. You should ask for your remaining credit to be moved so you don't lose out etc... :)
