I got a text message today from T-Mobile saying I am now due an upgrade on my handset/terms. However I no longer want to stay with T-Mobile. I believe the upgrades are offered a few months before the end of the 18 month term in order to tempt you into another 18 months.

At the moment I am paying £36.50/month for a blackberry curve 8900 on the flext 200 plan. Now I have seen many offers out there for £15/20 which will do me just fine now.

So, can I cancel my contract as of now or do I need to continue for a few more months until my 18 months is over?

i think your gonna have to wait until the contract period is up. however you might be able to get them to lower your bill if you ring them up.

You can only cancel once you are within the last 30 days of your contract period and it's the same story for if you want to lower your tariff aswell. Flext 20 was a rubbish tariff tbh and we (I work for t-mobile) don't do it any more.

We do the bb 8520 at £20pm and the 9700 at £30pm. Also soon to be doing the new pearl which is actually surprisingly nice at £25pm.

Just be careful with other offers, the prices I've quoted are including the bb services, others may not so tread carefully with blackberry tariffs. :)

Thanks for the advice guys! I will hold out and cancel this contract as when I needed to make a claim on my insurance I found t-mobile most unhelpful.

Don't be so hasty in your choice just yet. I was due an upgrade two months ago but am only dealing with it now. My contract is working out at 30quid a month for 300 mins and texts with internet on top. Went to the shop yesterday and I'm getting my tarriff changed either down to 15 quid for same minutes and texts with free Internet or at 20 with 600 mins and 500 texts with free net as well. At least see what they can offer you.

Oh the 15 quid one means I pay 75 quid to new phone or 20 quid one gets me the phone free.
