HI Folks
I am complete newbie to mobile phones, Last week I got 2 contract phones one for me - and one for my daughter

she is going mad with it at the moment and am worried about whats coming at the end of the allotted monthly mins allowance

I understand that I can put a block on the phone at the critical time - but after 'trawling' around T Mobiles website (logged in) I see nothing about having this option
can someone offer me advice as to how to stop the impending huge bill?

Ok first of all, was in a flext deal? If so i really wouldn't worry so much. Just ask her to show you the weekly txt you get through showing how much credit is left on the account. From what i know the only bar t-mobile too is a completely different plan called u-fix, i very much doubt you could change to that.

OMG you gave a teenager a mobile phone on contract......God help you.

Your best bet is to call customer services and they will come up with several alternatives.

I seem to be getting somewhere now, with the online itemized billing which shows how much has been used so I guess I will have to check it on a regular basis - so that I dont get any 'nasty surprises'
regards chris

Although the online billing is good, if she is using anything that isnt covered by the contract cred (for example ringtones), then it will not show up until the final bill. I know of many customers who used their phone day and night and got stung for it at the end of the month

3 easy steps to accomplish this.

1.return phone under cooling off period.
2.pay off outstanding bill.
3.buy her a PAY AS YOU GO phone.

job done.
you don't give CHILDREN contract mobiles.

TDS tells the truth.

iirc there is no option for you to put a block on it, well, not paying the bill for a few months will put a very low credit limit on the whole account, but thats not what you want ;]

in all honesty, i wouldnt give my child (obviously not yet!) a contract mobile in my name. ive heard the stories way too many times of parents getting huge bills and not being able to afford to pay it off.

i may be a mile off base here but haven't i read somewhere that with O2 you can call customer service and put a limit on the monthly expenditure?
if so then possibly other networks offer the same service?

personally i'd ring them up and take the following angle.
"she has a contract mobile and if the bill goes over XXX pounds per month you aint getting a bean".
they'll soon put a limit on the account then, lol.
