anyone know if the t-mobile internet bolt on covers voip? i c wot they call unlimited is infact just 1 gig monthly and no messaging. Doesnt say anything about skype calls. I guess it will work fine through wifi though? (n97 mini)

tmobile internet bolt on? thought bolt ons were an o2 thing?

im probably wrong... anyway... they do have a web n walk max monthly plan which allows the phone to be used for voip via skype, msn etc and also u can use the phone as a modem with a laptop or whatever.

i have it but i couldnt tell u how much it costs :D something like £40/month including lots of flexible txt/call usage. been on it for nearly 3 years and i really get on well with it.

dont think they do web-n-walk anymore, they do what they call Flexible Boosters one of which is the unlimited (cough cough) internet.

dam! seems the TnCs have changed since i got my contract.

heres what u need to know then:

If you choose a Pay Monthly plan which includes internet on your phone, you'll need internet coverage, check it at t-mobile.co.uk/streetcheck. Remember that you can only use internet on your phone in the UK and you can't use your phone as a modem or use internet on your phone for peer to peer file sharing, instant messaging or making internet phone calls. *Internet on your phone comes with a fair use policy of 1GB a month. We'll monitor how much you send and receive each calendar month so that we can protect our network for all our customers. If you use more than your fair use policy amount, we won't charge you any more, but we may restrict how you can use your booster, depending on how often you go over your amount and by how much. If you remove your booster and then use internet on your phone you'll automatically be charged our daily rate, see t-mobile.co.uk.

seems that vodafone allows voip:

15. If you are on an unrestricted data price plan or you have an unrestricted data bundle, you are permitted to use the mobile internet for:
a. calls over the internet (voice over IP); and
b. Peer to Peer Communication services.

yes that t-mobile deal is almost pointless then.

Vodafone is an add-on to the normal phone plan giving 3 or 5 gigs of data for £15 or £25 and allows use of all ports.

Yer just checked Virgin's FUPs and IM is not prohibited. Video calls, peer to peer and tethering are but that is pretty standard. Virgin actually promote the use of IM . Doesn't say anything about streaming music or video though but pretty sure they are ok.

well yeah if tmobile stay like this ill be leaving when my contract finishes. which isnt for another year, but im very happy with my contract TnCs since i can do all the stuff the current ones dont allow :P :D
