T-Shirt Printing Advice

Looking to start up a small business making personalised baby clothes with prints.

I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this and knows the best way to get the best quality prints where writing or logos wont crack after 2 washes, i know theres companys you can use to do this but thats when you bulk buy and we are looking to personalise outfits for people on a made to order basis

So currently we will be working through social media instagram etc while we create a website, the problem with buying bulk is that we want to offer personalisation to people so they can put kids names on the clothes etc as we will be doing kids jumpers and t-shirts, so buying bulk wouldnt work as we wont be able to give the option to personalise, its just a little something we want to do as a side thing and to see how it goes, if we lose money then so be it but i was just curious on what is the basic stuff to use etc so like a heat press? they're decently priced and then i can get logos made no problem and then buy a printer and heat press them on clothes? we would be bulk buying plain jumpers and t-shirts also
