T5 foreign passengers 'unchecked'

I'm sure T5 will be great when it's finally up and running properly, but it is a complete shambles right now. I just passed through it briefly and it was a joke - none of the staff know where anything is and there are little bits of evidence everywhere that show it was not ready to be opened for business. Shame it's got off to such a poor start. Same thing happened to Denver International - I think that was even worse if I remember correctly.

I think my feelings of "the 2012 olympics are going to be a complete farce, with all the events being in unfinished facilities with nobody able to get there" are becomeing more and more valid...

I think they actually shut Denver for over a year to fix it.

How sensational is this reporting? I've been abroad several times and passport control barely even glanced at my passport. Both UK control and the countries I was visiting.

when i was last in Geneva, Swiss border controll simply glanced at my passport and handed it back. maybe 1-2 seconds of actual viewing time.

Last time I came through Heathrow (T3), they scanned my passport in. I thought that was standard practice nowadays

Anyway, Britain is the only country that makes it more difficult for her own citizens to enter the country than non-citizens. And it has been this way for some time.

More bashing of the aviation industry. Seems to be everyones favourite whipping boy when its a slow day at the new office recently which is kind of annoying to someone in the industry. How about a thank you for the countless millions of passengers that get procesed correctly? Thought not.

Based on all the Airport Taxes and charges, that allow BAA to build Shopping Malls I mean Airports, people can complain as much as they like as they are paying for it.

If the Airports were a charity then thanking the staff would be fine, but you are paying for it.

The thing is, the amount of complaining far outweighs the amount of problems. People are complaining right now even after a perfect service. Like you just did "shopping malls".

Quoted for the truth! I recently got in and out of UK to Paris on an 18th month out of date passport (thought it was a ten year, turned out to be a five) and only on the second pass through Paris on the way back into the country did they notice the issue - yet still let me back to the UK.
