Table Tennis tips?

This game is annoying me now, basically because I'm crap I think.

I'm at match 6 of my "Rookie Circuit - Medium" I'm Jurgen and I can't beat Jesper, I get fairly close but he beats me 2-1 in the end.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I tend to use all the shots as I should, but he always manages to power just normal shot (green) past me.

Any tips on how to get good at this game??

Yeah I had heard that and gave it a shot, didnt help tbh.

My problem is countering the opposition's shot, I can never tell what colour the spin is to get a decent return in with the same shot"

What's the best shot to use against smashes? As when I hit it back it just lobs in the air for him to smash it back at me again, and again...and again.
