Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend me a tablet.

I'm wanting to connect things like my TV, speakers etc... to my home network and try and use a tablet as a one remote for everything.

I'm not wanting to spend loads and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the non brand android tablets?

Cheers

A second hand Nexus 7 would do the trick and be cheap but you could always try it with your phone first to see how you get on before spending money.

Many people, myself included, get fed up with doing it with a tablet and end up with an AIO harmony remote instead, doing it by tablet looks fancy but it just adds unnecessary steps that get annoying after a while.

The main reason for a tablet was for the Sonos App, RD/TeamViewer, connection to bluetooth speakers, and being able to Kodi/XBMC running on it.

What is it you get fed up with?

Just turning the screen on is an extra step, then there's the opening and switching apps. With a harmony you just press a single button and you're done.

Have you tried a Harmony remote before? The newer ones that use the hub to connect to the network will do everything you want apart from RD/Teamviewer obviously but that's a whole other thing.

I'm not saying don't try it i'm just saying don't spend much/try on your phone first in case you don't get on with it.

It's not something I've ever tried before, however I have seen quite a few people on hear talk about them.

Are you able to stream music from your home network to sonos speakers etc...?

I wasn't looking to spend much on it, I was just wondering how people got on with the none branded tablets etc..
