Hi there,

Was wondering what are the recomended tablets for people which are less computer literate. I wanted a tablet for my parents. I would like a 10" one.

Is the apple os better suited for beginers with tablets? Was looking at the Ipad 4.

They mainly use their current laptop for browsing news websites and skyping with family, so a nice front camera would be good.

I'm sure they would be able to use an Ipad. However I just bought my parent's a cheap Android tablet. They are very inexperienced with any form of pc/tablet and have no problems using it at all. Yes, they can't customise it like I've done my Android tablet, but then they don't need to. They use it for browsing news, e-mail and skype. I've showed them how to download new apps and they have never really had any problems in the 4 months that they have had it.

Personally I just think most of the apple products are overpriced.

some great priced android tabled out atm, also wouldn't buy apple either, not that i dont like fruit or anything, just over priced.

ive had a 10.1 tablet now for more than a year now with more than a few o/s no it, some stable some not so, i like the option to put on what i want and also the apps for me are a lot better and most of the time free, so it's a no brainer, apple charge you too much for the device and then rip you off with the apps, but yes the boxes look better, something i care little about, it's whats within..

I personally think all tablet operating systems are suited for most people.
The ipad itself is great but if you want something cheaper you can always have a look at the Nexus range.

Quite enjoying the experience with my recently purchased Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Highly Recommended Tablet

PS: Micro SD slot played a major part in my purchasing decision for future storage expansion.

Thanks for the replys.

I have been watching videos on the samsung galaxy note/tab. It seems a bit laggy? Also, what is the difference between the tab and note?

Laggy...

Don't get mixed up with the Tab 10.1 & Note 10.1

Tab is a dual core with 1Gb of ram

Note is a quad core with 2GB of ram

Whilst i can't vouch for the Tab 10.1,

I can on the Note 10.1, I can honestly say i haven't seen any lag to date

& if i am not mistaken is the Note 10.1 not one of the top three performance wise

The area where it does fall behind compared to the likes of the ipad & nexus 10 is in the PPi war, But it's perfectly fine i find for browsing the web & emails etc, Absolutely no complaints so far. :)

the tablet in my sig isnt a bad one, its a cheapo one at 70 new, but its a 7 inch, my missus has a nexus 7 which is also 7 inch, but for me(youngen of 27) the tablet i chose was more than enough for me, can be slow at times if do too much or certain things, but its no a proper computer..

you can buy 10 inch versions of the cheapo brands if you look around and get other models that are faster than mine, to be honest it boils down to what use it has for your parents to warrant how much you spend.

i like the Galaxy tablets, but wouldnt justify the 159 price tag for what im using my cheapo one for..

I would recommend the Note 10.1 very smooth, easy to use and the larger screen is great for us oldies :)

Nexus 10 is great - but for the price its a moot point
