i brought a versus 7 touchpad tablet today from a well know retailer store and was informed by the staff member that i must buy and use the antivirus because it wouldnt work if i didnt. It's a antivrus that i think is known for adding virus's to there software to panic you. Which he was trying to sell me at £60 but then suddenly dropped it to £10 after i told him no. im just wondering if he's fed me false information or if there is truth in this as i know what experiences ive had before on pc's

lol yeah, looks like i shall be taking a visit back to them. I'm guessing theres a load of free antivirus out there anyway for tablets? ive not had a chance to play with it yet as its mothers xmas pressy

I'm just wondering what OP looks like for the guy to think he might potentially be able to convince him of this nonsense.

They're obviously not going to try this on everyone, so what's the criteria for attempting such a ridiculous sales pitch?

There are plenty of free antivirus programs out there, but with a bit of common sense, I'd say they are not a crucial requirement.

Tablet won't work without Anti-Virus? I find this very hard to swallow, I bet it's left a bitter taste, hope you can remedy the situation.

No offence :D.

It's a valid question though, what makes them think their absurd claims won't get laughed at?

non taken i like my funny face :p
its a damn good point but to be honest the guy who served me didnt even seem like he wanted to be there i think id of got more info out of a toaster on special offer

In my experience which isn't vast they do try it on everyone. If you tell them no enough they will stop and let you buy what you want without the extras that they make the money on. I normally tell them I don't want their AV before they even offer it. I wouldn't have thought to pre-empt them on AV sales on a tablet I'll admit.

I'm sure if you are older they will really push it more thinking you don't understand new tech.
