tablet memory issue.

Hello I recently purchased a OcUK Ultima V2 10.1" IPS 8GB Tablet PC - Android Jellybean 4.1 w/ Playstore with FREE 16GB SD Card back in June, the delivery of the unit was awesome and speedy! I was missing the memory card that come with it but that was sorted with a simple phone call and I received it the very next day so well pleased with your services and how helpful the OC team are!

But the one issue I am having with the unit is the memory the unit has its internal memory plus the 8gig SD & the 16gig external SD and a 32gig USB key plugged in to the unit so there is plenty of storage but the after installing some apps or games the internal memory gets all used up and installing any further apps or games just activates a memory full message..
I have looked through the units settings in the hope of finding a option to select the 8gig or 16 gig SD card as the main memory but there isn't.

I have also did a few Google searches for a fix for this issue I am having & I have found some apps that enable you to switch the internal memory & SD card around so that the SD card acts as the main memory just with a simple run and reboot of the device but for it to work it requires the unit to be rooted to which this voids warranty and also has a possible chance of bricking a unit "no idea what that means but I don't want to find out..." and another method which involves editing vold.fstab file and changing the commands in it to change the memory use priority "this has a positive feed back and success for working apparently but when I looked up the file on my unit its read only and can't be edited... there fore I'm stumped as that what I could do the solve this issue and was curious to if any one here has had and solved this problem or can point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advanced any and all advice will be appreciated.

I had this problem. Some apps allow you to move them on to the SD card (I think if you go into settings, go to 'applications' or 'application manager', then you'll see a list of applications installed). If you swipe from right to left to switch tabs it shows which applications can be installed on the memory card. Ticking the box next to the application should then move the application freeing up some of the 500MB of 'internal' storage.

I think there may be some apps you can get that do this too and may be able to move other apps.

Didn't find any other way around it and it was getting annoying (along with the poor battery and crashes) so I got a Nexus 10 instead.

Hello googalymoogaly, cheers for thee reply, I have been doing that already with android assistance app, its informs you right after you install apps if its movable to SD card but not every apps movable... which sucks!

That's why I'm hoping there is a way to change memory around so that the SDcard is used as the internal memory, I did find a app on the play store that can do a internal to external switch but for it to work it requires your tablet to be rooted...
Other alternative method i found was to edit the vold.fstab file, there is command lines in the file that controls what memory is used but when I tried this the file is read only and I can't seem to change it...
