I’m looking for a device for my Girlfriend to use at work for carrying out training courses and presentations. Mostly it would be for displaying PDF or Powerpoint presentations.

I did mention that I would get her a laptop but she wasn’t up for the idea of a full blown laptop and said she would prefer something more like her iPad.

So I guess something like the Surface Go or similar that may allow her to connect it to a monitor or display. Budget preferably under £400.

Windows based may be easier for her to use as her computer skills aren’t the greatest. She prefers to dump everything on a desktop so she doesn’t have to look for stuff.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Ok, I've managed to persuade her into a slim and light laptop. Anything recommended for around the £400 area? I see there is a deal on a website for the Lenovo C340 @ £419 delivered.

Michtyme! Ha, now I can stalk you here as well as HUKDs!

Anyway, I'm a contractor and some clients provide a laptop, some don't, so as a backup I bought a 1st gen surface go. Great for presentations and consuming media.

I carry a USBC to everything adapter and hdmi cable for bigger screen/projectors.

If she wanted to 'dock' it, use a USBC and ethernet adapter to plug in power, monitor, ethernet, mouse and keyboard. Or, use office 365 and sync OneDrive for files created on your shiny new XMG :)

Can charge via USB and had SD card slot.

Not cheap but very good and you'll always be able to sell it if it's a mistake.

Check out fleabay...lots of people on there seen have thought they needed one...then realised they didn't!

Aye aye Mark, How you doing?
I probably would have opted for something like that if she wouldn't have changed her mind but talked her into getting a small basic laptop.
I've provisionally ordered a Lenovo Ideapad 5 with a 4300U CPU on a 14" screen. The device looks pretty tiny so I think she will be happy enough with it, Only problem is the lead time of 6 weeks+.

I can't wait to get my hands on my new laptop. Really looking forward to seeing what it can do although I don't get home from work until nearer the end of August.
