Hi All,

I am looking for recommendations on what to get my 7-year old.

It will be their first tablet.

It will be used for watching videos, some gaming, and reading books.

Budget of £100-150 but can stretch to £200 if needed.

Many thanks!

Amazon Kids Fire HD 8 or 10

Regular offers on them from 20-40% off. With Prime Week coming up id expect the HD10 to be down to around £150

Another vote for fire Kids HD 10

It does the job. Only annoying aspect is that Amazon all over it and no google aps unless you follow a very easy tutorial that basically installs the google play store.

It has some facilities to lock it down so the kids dont end up going on amazon and buying stuff or downloading random aps.

Recently though had some kind of malware that kept displaying adverts every 10 seconds full page and I had to factory reset it, probably downloaded from another advert.

Honestly ads are getting ridiculous now a days and for kids they should be just disabled irrespective of the app, the kids dont realise what they have clicked and most of the ads are quite targeted for them. Shambles that its all seemingly allowed, should have been locked down years ago as shady practice.

A second hand ipad mini.
Look I hate Apple BUT their ipad products are amazing for kids and you can get a decent spec for very little secondhand nowadays since they just flood the market with them every year.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
I am leaning towards the Fire HD 10 Pro, but I really hate Amazon's tablets due to how restricted they are and all the ads that they contain.

I also saw that there is the DOOGEE T30 which has some impressive spec. But what's android like when it comes to parenteral controls/restrictions?

When I was looking at tablets for childen semi recently, there were a few Lenovo tablets at low prices that looked good.
Only issue was older Android version but still had the latest security updates.
The prices were similar to that of a fire tab, around £110

Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet 10.1 vibrant Full HD screen octa core processor 3 GB RAM 32 GB with ads & Anti-Glare Screen Protector Prime deal

£87.98

Just seen that on hotdeal UK. it's on Amazon at the moment.
