Hi Everyone,

I've currently got an old laptop that's kicking the bucket. I only really use it in bed/on the sofa for browsing the web/watching movies/etc.

Replacing it with another laptop seems rather overkill. So I've looked at the following options:

Galaxy Nexus 7 - A lot cheaper than the iPad (half, infact). Looks nice. My only concern is that it might be too small?

iPad. Meh, too expensive

Windows Surface - Interesting idea as it's pretty much dual-purpose.

So for those who already have a Nexus 7 or waiting for the Surface - thoughts?

Thanks,

I bought my missus a nexus 7 in July - similar usage to you and she hasn't once picked up her laptop since - says it all really
As for screen size if you are on the couch or in bed, the screen resolution/size is just fine for close up use

Otherwise wait for windows surface, but for casual use I cant recommend the nexus 7 enough

Can't realy go wrong with any, but personally 7" is to small. Especially if you are going to watch video.
Alhough if you are going to use it for ay documents I would look closely at w8 rt tablets, as officer comes pre-installed. Assuming you use window office on pc.

The 7 is a consumption device, while while the Surface is a productivity device. I was planning on replacing my dead laptop with a surface, but the more I use my 7 the more I think a surface is not suited to my needs.

There's an rt version and an intel version.
The intel surface is aimed more at productivity. The rt is a consumption device and really little different to the competition, other than what the OS can do.
Not sure why you think a surface wouldn't be suitable, unless you prefer 7" size over 10"

The Nexus 7 if you've already got loads of Android apps. (Maybe a 10" tab if you've got one of these 4.7"+ phones)

Or how about a cheap BB playbook?
