Tablet to stream kodi

I'm currently streaming Kodi to a chromecast from my phone and was toying with the idea of getting a small android tablet to take over the duties in a more permanent way.

Probably the cheaper the better and will essentially be used as a "remote control" with not much more duties than sending kodi, youtube etc to the chormecast and maybe moved from room to room and also sending spotify to various Bluetooth speakers.

I'm assuming just about all tablets can handle doing this so for these requirements can anyone recommend anything that would do it cheaply?

Would a fire tv stick work out for you? It would be a lot cheaper. (If you have a spare hdmi slot on whatever tv your plugging in?) and then just bluetooth spotify from your phone (I always end up using my phone as a spotify remote regardless of what device i have spotify running from)

My son uses a nexus 7 2013 rev and Kodi runs great on it.Haven't tried Plex.Will now thanks.

I've heard great things about the Nvidia Shield too.

Hmm maybe the firestick is the way to go. I had just thought of the tablet for doing it all including spotify but I already have other tablets and my phone so maybe its a bit of overkill.

Was also looking at the various android boxes on the market but they seem a bit of a minefield.

The FTV stick has a Spotify app.

I've used it a few times to stream to and works fine.
