Tabletop RPG game for kids

Hi all,

Let me start by saying I've never played any tabletop RPG games, so am a beginner myself.

I've just been watching some youtube videos of Hero Quest and thought it might be a nice thing to get in to with my 6 year old son. He plays a lot of minecraft and watches video after video of minecraft gameplays on youtube so I would like to get him off the screen, without it being a punishment.

So can anyone recommend a good game to start? It would be nice if it had a nice visual element, ie nicely illustrated cards etc.

I think HeroQuest is out of print and costs a bomb if you find a copy.

Talisman is fairly basic or Dungeon is super simple.

I think this is what dungeon was designed for, an entry level game for kids. Munchkin may also work if you have a 3rd player.

Dungeon! is great for kids to get going with.

My kids love it.

If you do grab it, i'd suggest making a house rule that bumps up the gold find requirements 50% for each class, it forces players to actually go explore the harder areas then.

Hero Quest is fantastic, but as mentioned above, it's been out of print a long time, and costs an absolute fortune now! Same goes for Space Hulk and the like.

Hero quest is been remade by a spanish company i belive it was on kickstarter last week its the 25the aniversary or something, ships out Jan 2015 as they hit target a while ago. I got my boy into zombiecide he loves it played 3 games this week

If you were looking for just an RPG HeroKids might be worth a look. I've not played it myself but did check it out a while back for our nephew.

Unfortunately "Heroquest 25th Anniversary (Canceled) is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable."
