Tackling on PES6 (360)

I really am getting annoyed when playing online because I can't seem to tackle. Everytime they are running at my goal with the ball, I hold A or X to tackle and my player just runs behind them but whenever they go to tackle me their player runs infront and gets the ball off me, even if my player is meant to be better. So what is the best way to tackle? Do you use A or X and do you always hold it until you get the ball or do you wait until you are close to press it?

Depends in the situation but I tend to hold X down to get a couple of players near the ball, then let go as I'm controlling one and try to get near the ball and again either hold A or X to try and steal it off them. Or I use RB + RT and turn in to the opponent to barge them off it.

Its a completely different game on 360 due to the new engine.

If you likes 5 then stick with 6 on the PS2 but if you want a new challenge with better graphics then try 6 on the 360.

Its good fun and a new challenge as I said. I've been playing the PES series since 1 and am still loving it.

Prepare yourself for what possible could be a shock though.

you dont even need to tackle them with A or X just run into them/behind them/side ways into them it automatically takes the ball any way i dont use pressure buttons that often.

I can't seem to ever be able to catch up with them though, and if I do then they just use their arm to keep me back. :confused:

If you quickly, and continually, tap the sprint button rather than hold it down your player will move slightly faster.

the 360 version is definately different from pes5

I personally think its been rushed, so many little problems with it.

Saying that, i play it on live against my mates a lot and we put up with it.

Positioning is by far the most important element of tackling. Any half decent player will simply wait for you to dive in and then skip round you.

The most effective way to tackle is to hold off for as long as possible, only going in for the tackle when certain of coming away with the ball.

I totally agree. In fact, the best way of defending is probably not to tackle at all! If you keep backing off but keep in the attacker's path, or at least line of sight to goal, you will eventually force them into a move rather than you jumping in first and missing the ball.

I find it really difficult to resist jumping in at times though, especially if the ball is passed - I'll try to get to it first and usually end up losing position.

As above, back off with the player you are controlling and hold down X to get an AI player to close down the man, then if he missed, you have your guy you are controlling to try and make a tackle.

OT but don't you just hate it when playing online and you are through on goal, its the 90th minute and they hack you down.

Exactly, it's more a case of forcing a mistake out of your opponent rather than diving in and winning the ball.

Yes, although who can honestly say they wouldn't resort to such a tactic in a tight game?

Especially considering how dodgy the refs are at giving cards on pro evo, it's entirely possible to get away with just a yellow, which is more annoying imo.
