I recently discovered that Taco Bell have opened a couple of resteraunts in the UK, both of which are sadly quite a long way from where I live.

Has anyone been to one of them? Whats the food like? I've always wanted to try Taco Bell food, being quite fond of mexican cuisine.

I really hope they do well and the company opens a store somewhere close to where I live :(

ive been to Taco Bell twice, once in 98 and in may of this year. Both times the food was shockingly bad. I only went the 2nd time because i thought they might have improved.

Don't waste your money, there are some fanastic places around here called Moe's and Las Olas the latter being cheaper than taco bell and a million times better. So im sure you can find better mexican fast food in the uk other than Taco Bell.

Lucky you. Theres a depressing lack of places around where I live.

Mmmm Taco Bell nom nom nom!!

From what I remember it was good when I visited, it was about 12 years ago and it was in Texas but still!!

yeah 2 in essex and the manchester branch is opening shortly!

try a barburrito if you have any near you, they are like chipotle

I used to work in Saudi about 15 years ago...there was a Taco Bell nearby, and it got used regular, it was fantastic.

Never seen one in the UK though, wish there was one, really miss those burritos.

You're not missing anything, it's rubbish Mexican food but in England where experience of Mexican food tends to be an El Paso kit I imagine it'd be passable.

Taco whut?

Mexican exe's ***, learned there is no such thing as too much chillis, just not enough milk to wash them down with

In 1994 there was a Taco Bell restaurant on Earls Court road in London. It was middle of late eighties US franchise assault on UK shores, noticeable early yankee birds from mid nineties that stood test of time for at least a decade were seveneleven in hammersmith, early Subway located in a converted flat (sic!) above Tottenham Court Road station, Wendy's Burgers on Shafsbury Avenue and Chilis in completely empty top floor of Canada Square One mall, almost all of which are now folded and gone. The Taco Bell on Earls Court was scruffy, dirty and served delicious if unsophisticated food, then promptly closed and given way to one of the nineties French-like cafe chains

The Manchester one opened yesterday, I wasn't expecting great things, I like mexican food and know Taco Bell's reputation, yet I was still disappointed.
It's expensive to get a reasonable amount of food, the food while not terrible in itself was very poorly prepared, the burritos are finished in some panini type hot plate press giving you a flattened crispy on both sides burrito. The hot sauces were all terrible, I tried all the levels of spice and they tasted like stale chilli powder and water, no flavour, no tang, barely any kick, pointless.
A slight saving grace is that in the box meal you get desert (ok, a rubbish churros, but still churros)
The location of the Manchester branch is likely to be its downfall, it's in the food court of the arndale so may attract random attention, but for anyone actually after decent food there's two barburritos within 5 minutes walk (ok, still not the best thing going but miles ahead of taco bell) and a two stall independent at the other end of the Arndale centre (Pancho's) which offers a slightly cheaper meal deal (sans churros), but a better range of more traditional, homemade mexican fayre. They also have a brilliant range of sauces and ingredients to purchase for your own use.

Better Mexican food in London:-

Wahaca
Benito's Hat
Chipotle

Taco Bell is to Mexican Food as Subway is to sandwiches.

Must be nice to live somewhere where you have such an abundant amount of choice. Sadly we dont all have that luxury.

Frankly I'd take a low quality fast food outlet over nothing at all.
