Hi all,

Having a Tado smart thermostat fitted tomorrow, but I have been having issues with my iPhone 12 refusing to connect to the 2.4Ghz connection on my Now broadband router.

Can anyone with Tado check to see if they can connect with the app via their routers 5Ghz setting? From a quick search on the internet, it appears some Tado smart devices only work on 2.4Ghz, but then there is also a lot of info on Tado connecting via the internet bridge which comes in the installation kits?

If anyone has a Tado system, could they give it a go connecting via 5Ghz and see what happens? Cheers!!!

Pretty sure they don't use WiFi but ZigBee or something proprietary to the bridge?

Yeah they have a bridge that takes up one of the network cable ports in the back of the router.
It also needs it's own power source.

WiFi (normal wifi) would probably mean terrible battery life

According to the specs it uses 6LoWPAN, so not quite zigbee, or WiFi - runs on a lower frequency which probably gives it a more reasonable battery life than connecting to 2.4Ghz WiFi.
