Tagan 580w PSU

Hey all,

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my computer from my current X2 4400+ Sckt 939 setup.

I was just wondering with a Tagan 580w PSU what would be the largest graphics card you would run? The Tagan is a good PSU I know, but would it be capable of running a single high end card? I'm not worried about SLI or CrossFire.

The other parts of the system are,

Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
Intel i7 920
6gb OCZ 1600mhz Tri Channel Ram
2 x HDD (1tb and 500gb)
1 Optical Drive
3 x 120mm fans

I'm pretty confident the PSU could handle any single card but I would like confirmation

It will do fine for the cards in the new HD5xxx series.

Thanks for the quick response. Would the 5850 be a good choice? It was the one I was eyeing up! I'd be upgrading from an X1900XT so I know it will be leaps and bounds better, but are there better cards for the money?

Oh, I play games at 1680x1050 too if that helps make a decision.

It will eat everything you throw at it at that resolution.And for the money you could get 2xHD5770s but if you buy one now(HD5850) you'll have more headroom for adding another one later.2xHD5770s=HD5850 and sometimes beat it but stand no chance agains 2xHD5850.
