Tagan EasyCon 580W - split or combined rails?

Just got one of these, came out of the box with the 12V rail(s) set to Combined, so left it like that. I understand this is likely to give me more headroom when system is under heavy load (not going to overload one rail). Conversely, it is argued splitting the rails would ensure greater stability. Gah!

Running an X2 4400 and 7900GTX, but not SLI. Which would be the recommended setting, fellow Easycon owners?
