Hi

I am putting together a list for an upgrade to a dual core system

I already own a Tagan TG580 Power supply which I wish to use in the new system (It is only a year old).
I notice that a lot of motherboards use an 8pin auxillary coonection (as opposed to 4pin on my old board) from the power supply to the main board, including the EVGA nforce580i which is the one I have my eye on.
Am I right in thinking that the 2 12v 4 pin connections that are included with the power supply fit together, it appears that this is the case but the manual isnt that clear.
Of course I am wary of connecting them and blowing my nice new motherboard so any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Dave

The 4 pin merely goes into the 8 pin connector 8 pin is for 100watts + power
consuming cpu's a core 2 duo for example is 65 watts.
Most boards will come with a plastic covering over 4 of the 8 pins.

Do you have the TG580-U15 modular? If you do then it should come with a 8-pin EPS +12V connector, and the additional 2 4-pin +12V can be combined to make a second 8-pin +12V plug.
