Hi chaps

So I'm starting to wonder if my old Tagan 1300w Piperock psu is starting to give me a few issue's. tbh it's done me well over the years as I brought it when they first came out.

Symptoms are -

PC powers up for a few seconds then cuts off, resets and boots to windows.

High pitched noise (whine) when a game is started, assuming this is caused when the extra power is required.

Now and then I get a few instability issue's (blue screen etc.)

I always put most of this down to motherboard problems etc. now I'm starting to wonder if its the PSU?

Sry

MSI Z77 Mpower
8GB 2x4 Corsair Dominator C8
2500k @ 4.5 (H70 max temp high 60's IBT, also prime 95 stable 24hr)
GTX Titan (overclocked)
Xonar D2X
Samsung 840 pro ssd
OCZ agility 3 ssd
WD 650gb HDD (black edition from memory)
Akasa viper 120mm x7
Akasa viper 140mm x1
Tagan 1300w pipe rock PSU (brought 2008/9)

The power up issue is a few weeks old now, other issue's go back to old spec Mobo/GTX 580 that have carried over

Unfortunately I don't have one of the above.

Strange that it powers up for a few seconds then cuts off like a switch, only to restart itself after the initial boot.

Could it be motherboard related?

Could be, do a system rebuild and clean out any stray metal, make sure the mobo is on risers etc.

Cheers for the reply, I suspect it's a hard one to diagnose without testing.

It's had a fresh build into a new case, happened on old and new case builds with the same equipment listed.

Mobo is installed correctly etc etc.
