I was a bit of a muppet just now. I went to Sainsbury's for lunch. Its a ticketed car park on entry. After coming out of Sainsburys I went to the machine paid my parking - 80p then went to car. I went to the exit barrier and the car in front was taking an age. My mind drifted and I thought about what I was doing this afternoon at work. Then the car in front put the ticket in the machine the barrier went up and drove off but being miles away I drove straight through after him without putting my ticket in the machine. The barrier came down but went back up again so I got through okay.

Question is what happens now. I know I've been a real numpty. I still have the paid for ticket.

Just wondering whether I will get a letter through the post with a fine or something. I didnt notice any cameras on the exit.

Should be fine if there's no cameras or nobody reported it.

Friend did it on the tyne tunnel ones and never got a letter or anything.

It will be a private company so they can't fine you.

But regardless if they contact you then just send a copy of the ticket you have and explain the situation. Don't send the real ticket - keep that just in case.

I know a chap who actually habitually does this. Guy hasn't paid for a car park in years! He came upon it in the same way as you - happened by accident and made him think 'hey hey why am I paying for parking?'

Just make sure to have your hazards on and you never have to pay for parking again :p

OcUK nor myself is responsible if you receive a ticket / fine / jail time should you get caught doing this
