Take a look at this build for me please? (X99)

Simply, with X99, I want to finally build a new rig and replace my old monitor in the process (use the old one as a second monitor). I went with the Kraken OCUK GPU as I wanted a closed looped water cooled system vs doing it yourself.

Not sure if I'd need the £430 i7 as there's a £300 i7 there, with 14 less lanes, but I'm not sure what they help with to be honest. The PC will be used for rendering videos in 1080-4K depending, AE Renders, some 3D Modelling and gaming. I could use this PC right now as a backup/streaming rig alongside this if needed.

Just want to know if any money could be saved without sacrificing much performance as I'm not fully up to date with the current stuff :)

Hey

I am not sure about single 780Ti and 4k.
Wouldn't it be better to wait 3 weeks for GTX 980 Launch?
It is scheduled for 18.09 and cards are supposed to have 4GB vram and be stronger than current lineup.
You will have to wait anyway, because the ram you chose have ETA 19.09 to show up at OCuk store.

What you asked about 'less lanes' doesn't apply in your system, because you have only single GPU.
It is going to run at PCI 3.0 x 16.
5930K have 40 lanes, so it means it can accommodate more cards at x16 speed, than 5820k, which can only one - because it have 28 lanes.
If you are planning to add second GPU in the future or use rest of PCI slots for TV cards and such, 5930k is definitely a better choice.

There may also be some more X99 mobo deals coming up so perhaps wait for those? Not sure about that though

Your not going to be gaining any performance from extra lanes unless you are looking to go 3-way SLi in the future.

Watercooling your CPU to the full with a proper water kit would be better than water cooling the GPU.

Maybe look at Sli 780Ti build with the 5830k . The build I have specced is actually slightly more but you have a lot more GPU grunt and full loop to keep your CPU really cool to overclock it later for some more speed.

Thanks for the advice guys!

It seems I shall wait for the 980 then!

@Bart_Hunt: I wasn't planning to game on 4k res with this, some renders will be unscaled to 2-4k as I do at the moment from 1080. This provides better quality on the end product in regards to YouTube videos, as 1080p videos get a terrible bitrate cap assigned to them, while the 1440p and 4k get subsequently higher caps, which improves the video quality massively with YouTube's compression. Even the GSync monitor I chose has a max res of 1080p, sorry for confusion :D

@Curlyriff: Thanks for your take on the build! I wonder though; does the 5820k only support 1 GPU at 16x speeds then or can it accommodate a second? As I see you said the 5830k can support 3. I'd only ever maybe add a second card at a future date, depending on what the 980 prices come in at.

To be honest, I've yet to dabble with a full water kit, and I don't think I want to mess with the stress of testing and draining it and all that nonsense, especially with expensive components, I just wouldn't trust myself lol. Oh, and as for the Corsair case, I chose the NZXT one as I fell in love with the colour scheme, so that's a lock in haha :D

I suppose I'll wait until the 980 is released and edit the OP with a revised build when the time comes :)
