hey I'm new to building Pc's but I know a bit about the hardware, so could some of you with more knowledge could take a peek at this list, and tell me if it's good to run modern games, such as crysis 2, and if it could play bf 3.

Intel Core Processor i5-2400
4GB
nvidia Geforce GT545
OS - Windows 7 home premium 64-bit

thanks in advance
- sam :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.
i am not familiar with the GT545, but a quick google search, and its basically a rebranded Gt440 http://www.digitalversus.com/recycling-nvidia-way-geforce-gt-545-gt-530-news-19382.html
which is not a good gaming card, on par with a HD5570.

it will run games on low-med on a low resolution monitor, eg. 19" 1280 x 1024, but on a proper HD res 1920 x 1080 22" screen, it will struggle.
some benchmarks

get a better card like a HD6870 and get a proper PSU (power supply unit)
do not scrimp on these ;)
cpu and ram are good, also dont forget a good motherboard as well

May I suggest you forget whatever it was you were looking at and take a look at some of the OcUK prebuilt systems on offer. Some really good ones that will be capable of playing the games you mentioned.

Of course if you want to build it yourself... that would be even better :)

wow, thanks for all the feedback, I'll definitively take a look at some of the pre-mades on here then, thanks again you've all been a big help ^-^

Remember this good advice for future PC buying.....if you want to do more than office / internet on your system then stay away from the "brand name" high street PC retailers...you will get bent over and wallet raped for a crap system

Thanks, I'll remember this advice for as long as I can operate a computer, and then some. seriously big help. I'm checking out some of OC's gaming pc's now :)

You will need to upgrade the GPU to at least the GTX 460 (from the drop down list) to be able to play your suggested games with nice settings and enjoyable frame rates.

With the GTX 460 it takes the cost to just over £630, and yes you'll get a full VAT receipt / invoice from OCUK

Also you'll need a copy of windows 7 (64 bit) to have access to DirectX 11 which will allow you to play Crysis 2 and BF3 in all their graphical glory

Also, all this is coming to about £715, would it perhaps be better to move up the chain a bit , would this save me money?
