Im about to buy some RAM and wondering what would fit my spec nicely? i have £115 to spend

Spec is below

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't suggest going for an i7 860, especially when i7 920s are still banging around at around £60 less.

Once you factor in motherboard and RAM costs the prices come close, but an X58+i7 system does have more features than a P55+i7 one. These include: triple channel memory, full x16x16 PCIe lanes, easier overclockability and support for Gulftown Hex cores.

The PSU you chose is a great bit of kit, as is the HDD. I don't know much about the case, so can't comment.

That's a 2GB (2x1GB kit), so probably not the best one to go for. Also, it doesn't have a lifetime warranty like most other makes.

Well ive already purchased the 860 and the mobo so no turning back really, i understand what your saying though i would have loved to go the x58 route but budget was a bit tight at the time. I bought the i7 860 for £130, so not too bad eh. I hear x8 x8 aint to shabby on the Sli/Xfire anyways? I know 1156 hasnt got much of a future but i hope this build will last a few years at least?

What about XMS3 Corsair RAM? Go for 1333 or 1600?
What stories on the OCZs?

Yea for £130 you are on to a winner - you basically saved £115 compared to buying new.

As for x8x8 crossfire/SLI - you should be fine. Most tests show you only loose a few % FPS compared to x16x16 on current graphics cards.

idd im running 5850 CF and the scalabilty of one card @ 16 ovcer two @ 8 is like wow

i would find some reviews but its late and cant be bothered at the mo..

will tommorow

im very happy with both my 5850's @ 950 Core and 1150 Mem

I decided to go for 4GB OCZ 1600MHz PC3-12800. Going for £87 so i took em. I think im going to be alright with them. Might possibly upgrade to them Dominators down the line at some point
