Just been off the phone to my gf, her bro and a mate got mugged coming back from work..

Thing is they took their money etc but then decided to beat them up for a laugh

The mates apparently quite bad, and the bro is in shock...happened about 5 minutes from their home.

Can't bear to think about her walking that way everyday after work :(

its always sad to hear :( a mate of mine was beat up not so long ago by some drunks in a park behind his house. Poor guy came out with a Broken nose and needing a plate in his Jaw :(

If I got mugged by someone without a weapon I would simply run as fast as possible mainly because most of the people that would mug you are likely to have nothing against beating you up as you said - just for a laugh.

Sad state of affairs :(

I'm with you Zefan, forget any thoughts of me being a hero I would be off down the road as fast as my legs and lungs would carry me. :p

Keyboard warrior mode on...

punch and run ;) hopefully stun the guy long enough for me to get a head start.

edit:  just noticed it was a girl ... in that case just give them the money it could have been far worse with the weirdo's about.

i stupidly got cornered in cardiff city centre carrying the pot on a stag do, little fella shouts give us yer wallet me, being fairly drunk told him to go away. he lunges and in a very matrix style my mind shouted loudly wrist lock no.2 which i managed. didnt see the other guy and got a smack in the facefor my troubles. luckily didnt pull a knife on me otherwise i wouldnt be here today. i took the punch and belted him back breaing his nose in the process. on escaping my little corner i told the stag party what happened, i was very sober very quickly, but the alcahol soon kicked back in. my face really hurt the next day.

moral if there is one, dont fight it hurts and you never know whether a knife will be pulled.

Forgetting my attack skills with a keyboard, I don't think my gf would be too impressed with us going out and 'finding them'.

As said, they're lucky it wasn't serious...could've been much worse. Happened near Brixton as it goes...

It happened a bit too close to home. Fair enough, it's traumatic wherever it happens...but most people feel that bit safe when near their homes.

I got mugged a short while ago whilst coming home in Camberwell. Got hit a few times in the head and ended up with a black eye and a chipped tooth... was pretty nasty because I had my exams just 2 days later. I don't like coming home at night on my own anymore (night buses ftl), and will tend to get taxis if at all possible.

Whereabouts did it happen to your sister's brother?

There's a lot of council estates towards that way, I don't know it very well but I know like pretty much most of South London it can be dodgy. That said, even in nice areas you get **** happening these days. Seems to happen to everyone at some stage. :(

Make sure they go to the police, report everything... they have cameras everywhere these days, you never know.
