In Take On Helicopters the player takes on the role of a civilian helicopter pilot. Harry Larkin’s aviation business has fallen on tough times. Built up over decades, it’s now only days away from closure. His sons face an uncertain future, struggling to save the company their father spent his whole life building. Together, they must take on contracts and competitors; together, they take on helicopters!

Finally, this is now on Steam, those who pre-order also get immediate Beta access.

The multiplayer modes also look interesting.

Yes, can play with a controller if you wish and cut out all the startup procedures
and manual flying controls etc.

The 360 controller is supported natively.

There is still a bias towards sim though more than arcade.

Long as i can kinda play like i could in gta sa with the chopper in this i might like it as i did enjoy the choppers flying about in gta games. Tho would be kb and mouse not controller tho then again i guess i could try the 360 pad.

Guess i will see what its like when a demo comes out.

I bought this a few weeks ago and from what i can make out from the beta its the arma 2 engine with a better helicopter flight model.
I`m just not convinced yet its a 30 quid title, but ill keep you posted as the beta is quite limited.

I have grown very wary of BI titles over the past few years as they seem to be in a permanent beta stage. It is a shame as they'd release some great ideas but since Arma 1 they have been pretty shoddy.

Mmm.... your opinion and I respect that, but you are wrong :p

What do you actually do in this.

Just fly around enjoying the scenery, or are there objectives like transporting passengers etc...

Is multiplayer like free flight in fsx?

There are missions to do like transport a swat team to a objective or working with a construction team moving materials.
Also the multiplayer modes include racing, which involves hitting airbourne checkpoints.
If the community gets behind it and makes a tenth of the user made missions like they have in arma 2 it may be very interesting.

Looks promising been following this for a while now, lets hope they step up on the post game launch support, arma 2 was plagued bugs

Just saw this on steam, looks pretty good.

Whats the feedback from you guys who've had time to play the beta?

Its okish so far (playing beta)
It aint no "real" helicopter simulation eg DCS: Black Shark levels of detail etc

But it is ok to mess about with , we will see what the final game is like ........
fingers crossed

By no 'real' helicopter sim compared to Black Shark, do yo mean in terms of flight model, or cockpit details and controls?

I thought it was rather detailed to be honest.

Cockpit is VERY well detailed.

The DC-50 is a more complicated chopper in real life than the standard chopper we had in the demo.

If comparing BS to Flight Sim X, you could say BS is superior but it does not make Flight Sim less of a Sim does it?

Also, the civillian missions on this look to be great fun.

The flight model seems great.

I like the idea of the missions and a bit of a storyline rather than a pure sandbox. Is the city more detailed than FSX does?

Doubt I'd expect a full on DCS style sim but I'm hoping it's a good mix of graphics, flight model realism and fun.
