Take Two acquire Illusion Softworks

A massive story in the world of good games that I'm surprised hasn't caused more news, Czech developers Illusion Softworks have been purchased by Take Two.

It's been a massive year for Production houses signing up developers and this is one of the biggest of the bunch.

For those of you who don't know, Illusion Softworks are the development team behind Mafia II and their past titles include Mafia and Hidden & Dangerous. Take Two now have Mafia II and GTA IV on their books, I think it's gonna be big money this year for 2K.

Not sure what this really means for the gamer. But, I love Mafia. I love GTA. So it must be good, right?

Well hopefully with a bigger publisher behind them, we'll see more of Mafia 2 and other future titles from IS. I could be wrong here, but i'm sure before they had to find their own publisher.

I want another Hidden & Dangerous, number 2 of that series was awesome ...... sod Mafia 2 ( loved the first one ), I would rather of had another H&D.

H&D 3 was in development shortly after H&D 2 but it was canned after the engine limitations. But i did hear it has been shelved for a possible production shortly after mafia 2 is released. so migth see an H&D 3 using the mafia 2 engine some time in 2009.

The industry is turning into one big game of Pacman. I don't know what the ghosts should represent though, maybe EA and Activision Blizzard?
