Ok im lazy cba to cook dinner so i phoned the local takeaway and ordered the healthy option with chilli sauce and salad.

Last time i ordered from them was July some time, a few pizzas, drinks 30 quids worth of crap, friends and family round, nom nom. Paid with my bank card.

Tonight i open my wallet no cash money, crap, so ill pay by card pay the 50p surcharge, whatever, im hungry. "Ok sir and your card number is 4000 xxxx 6352 xxxx ! expiry 10/15 security code 762" I was like....... w t f ? How the hell does he know this and why does he know this?

Are they allowed to keep these details? i assume its recorded and linked to the telephone system as the delivery address is associated to my incoming number too...

I feel a little bit violated and e-frauded, im going to scrub myself with my keyboard.

Well if my bank gets cleared out in the next week i know where to point the police to first

wheres my kebab......

CVV numbers are simply a method of the merchant verifying that you have the card in your possession and are authorised to use it - you can put a transaction through without it.

PCI DSS specifically states that you must not store the CVV number anywhere, and they could get in to trouble with their acquiring bank as they are clearly not handling the sensitive data properly.

Ok i have decided to report it, you seem to know the score, who do you think i should contact. Will local trading standards be the best to start with ?

I got no problem calling the shop and saying delete it, but ill never know they have and they may well have 100s on file.

im scared now :D

just need 1 more sensible answer before you can rip this thread to shreds

Would my on-line bank statement give me any clue as to what merchant they use? a code or ref number ?
ill call TS tomorrow morning, found a local number, they will probably have a procedure.

I have no problems with them knowing the card number, but the CVV was just a **** take.
Hence why i ran to the internet to share a cool story.
