Lo folks, i dont do any photography, and only have cheap cameras available. I dont use them often enough to get the full use out of them either, so some settings have never been touched.

I want to take some pictures of a computer, in the dark, its got quite a lot of green LED's in, but if i take a photo of it with the lights off, and with the flash on, the flash makes it look like theres no leds, if i turn the flash off, the lights are overpowering and make it just look like a green mess.

is there a way to stop this happening?

i have 3 things i can take pictures with at the moment, i doubt any are ideal, or as good as your all used to, but they suit me fine usually...

a nikon coolpix l810 thing.
a fuji finepix point and click
and my samsung s3

if someone could tell me what to do/how to do it/ if i can do it, that would be great :D

Turn the flash off, and turn of the exposure down / ev compensation down.

(are reduce the flash power / provide dim filler light)

I do actually have a mini tripod thingy with bendy legs I can attach to stuff, I could try that I suppose?

(I've not actually been home yet to try anything else out, I'm working away so won't be home till tomorrow or Wednesday)
