Hey guys,

I have an RTX with a 360mm radiator AIO attached to it. Anyone had any experience taking this with them in a carry on? I really don’t want to have this in my checked luggage but surely it falls under ‘container with liquid’ that is above 100ml? I can always insure my luggage just in case, but naturally taking expensive tech by hand would give me less anxiety lol. Would love feedback from anyone who’s had to deal with this.

When I have it's been fine but it depends on destination etc and if either side view it as a liquid container the safer route is to get a pelican case or something similar

I'll be flying out of Heathrow. UK being the UK they have missed their deadline of updating the scanners (where they help end this liquids restriction) in the airport by almost a year now lol.

This is second hand experience but a friend recently brought a 240mm AIO back from New York into heathrow with no issues, he packed it with his steamdeck and laptop in hopng that would help... whether it did or not I don't know.

The worst I had was travelling into the US explaining it to the TSA.

Cool, my only concern is that the coolant in a 360mm radiator would be more than the 100ml limit they set on you, I think from research its around 150mm

So I've emailed Heathrow and suprisingly they responded:

Thank you for contacting Heathrow Customer Service with regard to the GPU cooler system. The system will need to be completely drained of liquid as the system would be carrying more than 100ml of water.

"I would also recommend contacting the airline you are travelling with to see how they recommend travelling with the cooler system, as they will have their own policies on what will be allowed in the cabin and what will have to be checked in and carried in the hold."

It’s not the airline that is the problem, it’s the security checks. The scanner will pick up the liquid and you will either have empty it and/or risk not being allowed to take it through. You have no way of proving it’s less than 100 ml.

My brother works in Gatwick security baggage checks, they don’t have the new scanners yet.
