In a couple of weeks I'll be going to Tunisia and doing a tour around the country so aim to take plenty of snaps.

Couple of questions that I can think to start off, which I hope some people on here can help me with;

1) Will I be ok to take my Nikon D40 with lenses in my slingshot 200AW bag as hand luggage? After all the 9/11 I'm not sure how strict airports are with photography.

2) What are rules on taking photographs whilst on the plane? For example taking snaps out of the window?

1. You should have no problem as long as your bag is within the size limits. I took my D70s to Europe and Japan last year.

2. I think they ask you not to take pictures during take off/landing or when the seatbelt sign is on.

1. I took: 40D + grip + 17-55 + 70-300 + 430EX + 10-22 + 50mm + hoods + batteries + accessories to Iceland with a Tamrac Adventure 9 with no problems.

2. I have rolling, lift off, in flight and landing shots. I've done that the last 4 times i've been flying, they just ask you not to do cabin shots, or at least BMI didn't want me doing that. The stewardess couldn't miss a 40D with a grip and 17-55 sitting in my lap and they didn't say a word. Bag was by my feet :)

I've taken a point and shoot cam in my hand luggage before now, and taken photo's out the window, but I don't remember being asking not to take any photo's. It could depend on the airline, so don't take this as gospel.

EDIT: ^ Nice shot!

Never been told not to use my camera or anything on board. And I'd definitely take your camera as hand luggage - don't put anything of value in your suitcase.

I took my D40 to Tunisia last year and there were no problems at at all :)

Enjoy your trip, its a great country - be prepared to eat a LOT of water melon though :p

Edit: Also if you get a chance, take a walk around Fruiga Park and stay for the evening meal - the entertainment is top notch! You can normally book this through the hotel as a coach trip.

Thats good to hear, glad you had no problems.

I've been to Tunisia before and am really looking forward to going back, especially as this time I'll be taking my D40 with me and have more of an interest in photography than before.

As for trips, not sure what we'll do yet, although I know we're on the 4 Day Safari so get to ride camels, go to the grand mosque, see the roman colosseum, see the star wars set and numerous sun rises/sets. Probably go for the tradition Tunisian night too with the entertainment. Will keep an eye out for the one you mentioned too
