Taking camera skiing?

Anyone risked taking their camera skiing? I'm toying with the idea but reluctant in case of falling on it and hurting myself, or worse, the camera

Any tips or advice? Being a noob I love the idea of taking it up the mountains in the snow.

Camera is a 550D and I have a 50mm prime, the stock 18-55mm and a 55-250mm too.

Currently -8C at the highest point. Been there before and it's gone down to -15C at times. When are temps likely to cause issues?

In two minds now! May take it out for a day or two and just enjoy the rest with the go pro.
