Okay I have the following:

2500Ki overclocked to 4.2
8gb ram
SSD Boot Drive
1TB Hard Disc
7950 3GB
27inch 2560*? monitor
850W XFX PSU

On the whole everything works great and not noticed anything particularily slow in games however, upgrade itch is back........

Am I better of getting another 7950 and SLI'ing (2nd hand is fine)

or

New Motherboard and Processor (2nd hand is fine)

Ideally don't want to spend more than £250

or Upgrading Ram (Cant see personally that it's worth it)

All help appreciated

I've got the same setup and I love it. Don't bother upgrading the major components, the improvement would be and has been minimal.

What cooler do you have?

Overclocking to 4.5/6 would be a great performance boost allowing you to get another 7950 for xFire with no bottleneck. This will yeild great results on your 27".

I use the Corsair H50, the case is a Fractal 3, wondering whether the 212 I have got would be better.

Ok, so check on the O/C, will change the multiplier and see what happens :)

and then look for second hand 7950 cheap would seem a good plan

I'd look at something like this if your RAM has clearence:

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795QC3G2M) **FREE SHIPPING** £173.99
1 x Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler £53.99
Total : £227.98 (includes shipping : FREE).

I have my 2500k running at 4.5 on my K2, idle is 28-30 load is 58-60.

LOL that it my card I have currently, £173 seems good price......oh noooo decisions, I want it to be BF4 ready.

Not sure if I can swallow another £50 notes on a cooler, the H50 no good?, would the 212 be better?

I went from a H50 to the D14 (very similar to the K2) for my 2500k..

My chips was at 4.4ghz on the H50, but hitting high 70's temp wise (77-78)..

My 2500k on my D14 at 4.5Ghz doesn't go over 60C and 4.7Ghz not over 65C..

Just gives you a lot more OC headroom. I tried 4.8 but then i got bored. :)

hmmmm so 4.6 O/C gives me a 10%increase.......will play at the weekend so see the break point of the H50, then try the 212 then stick my hand in my pocket if I have to :D

Consensus seems to be, chip and ram are fine, O/C further and SLI...correct?

okay so I have another 7950 on the way to me so in my R3 case I will have SLI 7950 cards and have the 2500K runnnig at 4.5ghz (I hope :) ) , the memory I have is

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)

are we sure the Mount Doom K2 thingy will have sufficient height clearance for the RAM and is it short enough for the case?, I know a D14 will fit an R3, but not sure on the RAM height on this either.

Cheers all
