Taking notes on computer or pen and paper?

A question though,

You see pictures and videos of students in universities in USA and they all seem to be using laptops during the lecture, Is this a common occurrence?

In my lectures nobody and I do mean nobody (except that 1 guy that sometimes brings his laptop in) uses a laptop in lecture.

Quite a few use them in mine, but quite often they'll have Facebook and other things open on top of the lecture slides or whatever. Think in those cases it's more about them preserving some kind of image than an actual need.

Pen and paper, but often while its fresh in my memory i use Microsoft one note.

Never found anything that's useful for tracking minutes and action lists, so its back to Excell for that.

Depends, if its a meeting and just need to note a few things down, pen and paper, if its more in depth then what I usually do is note take with pen and paper and audio recorder so I can go back and write proper notes

Audio recordings on phones are very useful for things when there is a lot going on and you don't have time to write down a lot of it

Only done that a few times but its helped me out
