Taking on additional work for financial gain

I used to teach for 4 hours a week which meant I brought home about an extra 250 odd a month. That was when I worked pretty close to the college, now I work in London I probably wouldnt take on any extra work as I dont get home until 7 or 8. If it were something I could do on the weekend for a couple of hours and something I enjoyed I probably would do it though. Guess it all depends on how flexible the work was.

For example, if it was building computers (I know its not a viable business but hypothetically) then I could just build one a night infront of the tele and then mass image them at the weekend thats fine. But if I had to spend a fixed amount of time in the evening doing it I probably wouldnt take it.

Two weeks hard slog and late nights, yes I would take that without a second thought. As long as the pay is worthwhile for you. Two weeks is absolutely nothing.

Exactly the same thing for me, and I have done this in the past whether I needed the cash or not.

Luckily, or not, for me I'm on contract work, so some weeks I'm working far too much and others far too little.

Kahn- if you in the subsea business why not take a working holiday and come over to Brazil for a short term contract and earn bucket loads of money.?;););)

Because the work I'm doing at the moment is for OGX and Petrobras (normal job - so going to be in Brazil in July-September regardless) the additional work would be for Subsea7 (north sea - short term).

Edit - my day job pays enough by the way, the money isn't the deciding factor in this, more if you could do it would you if their was some gain to your self.

Fancy a beer when you come over ?

I work for Petrobras (contracting), have friends at EBX (parent group of OGX) and Subsea is 10 minutes from my flat.

I presume you'll be in Rio, during that time?

Small world really.
