Hi Guys

I will be working on a project in September so we can take payment for selected courses online. Can you give me outline what is involved? All I know so far is I need to do the following: design a form to take details, check with our Oracle DB that there are places available and design a form to confirm payment and booking for the course. Apparently someone in marketing is applying for a VeriSign certificate and I know we have a merchant account. How will all this integrate? The certificate, etc? Is it straightforward?

Cheers for any advice. :)

It depends on the features you want. If it's a simple click course -> click buy -> pay, then it's fairly straight forward thing, but if you want them to be able to select multiple courses and then pay for them together then you'll need some kind of shopping cart backend.

There are various pre-built e-commerce solutions like OS-commerce and cubecart which provide that functionality, you'd have to evaluate if they're overkill for yourself.

It will be just that I don't want anything to complicated.

Will you be processing the payment yourself or using a gateway?

Sorry what do you mean by gateway? From what I can remember a few months ago I was told that when the payment is taken they will be sent to a different website (I think) and then our server will receive a unique reference which will indicate the payment has been taken. Is that a gateway?
