I have a 360 and drove to the shop today and actually had the PS3 in my hands but "chickened out" of spending 400 euros on something only I would use. I felt guilty about not spending it on the wife and kid so put it back.

Come on PS3 owners convince me it's a must have :p

Ah you know you want it anyway :) Seriously though i own both consoles, and my Ps3 is getting the most attention, blue ray, some good games, just picked up Oblivion again, and enjoying it , much more than i did on the 360, due to shorter load times etc, all in all its a very classy , solidly built machine, that will only get better with time, a worthy investment in my books.

Wait. You've got a 360 and MGS, GT, Killzone etc are not out yet. There will be a time when I'll say go for it but that time isn't yet.

If you have a 360 you already have a ton of games to choose from and plenty more due out, so I'd only get one if the PS3 exclusives appeal to you? I'm a Final Fantasy nut so that is what pushed me towards the PS3.

This year (off the top of my head) on PS3 you have LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, Haze.

So if any of those appeal to you, go for it, otherwise I'd just stick with my 360.

To be honest, I think you should spend the money on them. I think you did the right thing. Get her something she will and love and treat the kids. Maybe plan a nice weekend or day out with the money.

ive got both and have been using my ps3 more for the last 3 weeks playing burnout, but that will change soon when bully comes out on the xbox , i try to get games for both so they both get used

Marriage counsellor much? lol

It's not as black and white as that. In all relationships, people will get items just for themselves. It's a way of keeping the wheels turning. I am very certain that all the married guys on here cannot keep count of the times their other halves went out on a shopping spree, bought themselves expensive handbags, perms, clothes, etc ....

You gotta treat yourself once in a while or you'll go insane!

God yeah. Nothing worse than having to justify a purchase from your own hard earned. It does take some give and take however. I appreciate that I earn more, as does my other half, so I do get myself games. But if we need cheering up, something in the house needs doing, that takes priority.

dont think its a must have. depends how much you love gaming i guess. But still buy it though. I use it 70% bluray/dvds and 30% gaming.

Still GTA and MGS4 may change that slightly. btw someone tell me theres a really good rpg coming soon to the ps3. FFXII is good yeah but the graphics are a bit annoying all pixelated etc. I really want to play a genuine PS3 rpg.

Might not be your cup of tea, but I'm quite looking forward to Disgaea 3

I've gone off Haze now, the silly launch dates have come and gone so many times that I've stopped caring.

Oh, and the fact that Free Radical told everyone the story a year ahead of time hasn't helped
