Taking This on a Plane?

A friend of mine is flying to Kenya in the first week of December and wants to take part of his project with him:

Do you think it would be alright taking this in the main baggage, or will security think it is some kind of explosive device?

Can i ask why half of the project, what good is that going to do?

As far as I know there are two boards... the other board is a bigger and more suspicious looking, so he is going to leave that behind. He can still work on the smaller one (they are independent)... and he is only going for 3 weeks, so he will do the other work when he gets back
