Played bass for a long time (about 13/14 years) bored as hell with it and haven't bothered even picking it up for months. Getting the itch to play guitar as I think the change will do me good. I have about £350 to spend on an electric. I have played lots of different guitars in my time and am rather fond of tele's but I am undecided as of yet. Any pointer to something a bit special for the right money would be great.

Rock on.

I bought a PRS SE Standard in Mahogany for £349 iirc. Worth every penny, still the has the nicest action I've used in my rather humble experience with guitars. :)

This will probably get locked but here we go.

Although I prefer maple finger boards on Strats:

These are suprisingly good for the money.

But I would also recomend this:

As it's pretty much the same guitar but it has a maple fingerboard which I prefer.

You could also look at the Variax 300, not my cup of tea. Plays like an Encore but sounds nicer.

Another few to look at:

Also, these are VERY good for the money:

I think any of these guitars would be good for someone in your position. But the choice may depend upon what genres/styles you play.
