I don't have enough left in my hand luggage so I was planning on taking it in a perfect size suitcase in checked luggage. Now I understand how they treat suitcases, I work for a courier and they're bad so only one can imagine how bad they are at airports but It's literally bombarded (:P) with bubblewrap to the point where I can safely stand my whole 6ft 2 body on the case.
The controller and hardrive will be in hand luggage and the heavy leads in the same suitcase as the xbox.

(It's my 3rd spare xbox and I'd rather that got broken than my laptop which I'm taking in hand luggage)

my only concern is security taking it away? You hear all sort of stories so I was wondering whether you guys have had any good/bad experiences.

Why are you taking an xbox360 on holiday ? :)
Haha, thought you might ask. My sisters pretty down at the moment (Even when we're going on holiday!) So I just wanted to bring it along and get her playing GTA V to *try* and take her mind off things. It's also a month long holiday.

wrap it in a jacket or something and whack it in your suitcase, Ive taken one of mine round the world with me,
Just make sure its in the middle of your bag, worst thing that can happen is they inspect your bag.

Careful with some games that are banned though, I had a friend lose some games when customs took them in Saudi and they also scanned his hardrives for "movies" but Customs will redact a copy of FHM if you take one there.

I've not put any clothes/jackets, is it a good idea to do so? It's got about 10 layers of thick bubblewrap so a jacket might not fit haha!

I'm only going Menorca. some countries like Saudi, Dubai etc are strange with some things. Hopefully it will be fine for me.
I'm only taking the discs without the cases as i have a little disc holder that's in my suitcase.

i spoke to a guy who works at heathrow logistics. he had amazing stories to tell about some of the stuff that's happened there and companies to avoid flying with if you value your luggage.

also he mentioned you should never have more than like £150 worth of stuff in your check in luggage, because should it go missing that's all you get refunded to you apparently and to keep anything valuable on you or in your hand luggage.

he also stated on a good day a certain company loses roughly 30,000 items of luggage per day, and on a bad one well over 100,000 (when a new terminal opened up apparently).

also if you don't already you should have some sort of name and address tagged on it, in case something does happen, those paper things they attach can get torn off.

a lot of the time said luggage does end up back to the original owner but i was watching storage auction thing on dave and they were selling people's lost luggage on it in one episode, including the contents, some of which turned out to have expensive camera's, designer sunglasses, etc.

360's aren't that expensive these day's but just for reference for anyone thinking of doing the same with something else.

i did have my luggage get lost once when flying, ended up getting it returned to me like 4 weeks later, didn't get a penny in compensation neither.

Another true story from Psycho Sonny:D

BA and hes talking about BA gave me a very nice chunk of cash when they lost my bag for 2 days and I got it back with everything in it.
Bought me a nice new suit for my meeting on the first day with cash to spare.

I still call it my BA suit.
