...been looking to buy a house for a while now. Found one i liked, and if the offer was accepted i told the GF we wouldn't be going on Holiday this year, as i'd want to invest the money we have into getting the house right.

Offer on the house i was interested in was rejected, so i went ahead and booked a 7-Night stay in Lloret De Mar, Costa Brava for W/C 21st June.

It was at this point my GF told me she had no Passport, so we went straight to the PO, got a Passport application and got it filled in, and in with the 2 week Check & Send service that the PO do. Got it paid for etc and then after 2 weeks, she had a phone call saying she had to attend an interview because it was a first time application, and not a renewal.

This was on Friday evening (last week), as luck would have it, they gave her a slot on Saturday afternoon. He told her that it takes 4-5 Days, so should be there by Friday, but to call up on Wednesday to check progress with it.

With my impatience, i got her to call last night and enquire, and the lady on the phone said it hadn't been dispatched yet, oh poo!!!

Woke up this morning and had a phone call to say it was sat on her Kitchen side, arrived this morning!!

So, it means i WILL be able to take her on her first holiday abroad after all :D

/pointless thread

meh, you have 2 days spare still. If you got the passport delivered by the postman just as your taxi arrived to take you to the airport, that's cutting it fine :p

This was worst case scenario, that it didn't actually turn up until Saturday morning!!

TBH a punch in the ovaries should be enough to remind her to chase up her passport progress next time.

Otherwise enjoy your holiday :)

my brother had to go collect a new passport from the passport office on the way to the airport many years back

well he didnt have to as he could have gone the day before but that was inconvenient

My girlfriends 21, never been out of the UK, her family simply couldn't afford to spend money or time on holidays, not really that much of a shocker surely?
Not really no, I used to always go to France with the family when I was younger, I was on my mums passport until I was 16 I think.
