I am considering getting a 48" Samsung JU6400 for £650. This seems like a very good price for this model.

I currently have an 8 year old 32" Hanspree. I've measured, and 48/50 would fit perfectly in the TV nook.

I mainly use it for Xbox One, Plex and Amazon Prime.

4k seems a bit overkill this year, but if I can get this tv to last as long as the last one (which still works fine), then it doesn't seem so bad.

What are your thoughts, am I just wanting this for the sake of wanting it, would I be better off saving a couple hundred quid and getting the 1080p equivalent?

I checked the distance. My living room is quite narrow, so it's only about 6.5 to the screen from the couch. The TV unit will take up to a 50" TV at most.

Sticking with that Samsung, the 1080p version (H6400) seems to only be £120 cheaper, or £100 if I went for the 50" model.

Hmm.

There's no real point paying the extra £120 if you're not going to fully benefit from it.

But I wants it! Wah!

Actually, more serious question, what of this Tizen OS that's on their 2015 tvs? Seems like it could be better supported going forward that the 2014 models, or they could hack it for a year or two and give up. If I'm using an Xbox one though, are those concerns mute?
